Vision Impaired Adults
Initial Low Vision Adjustment and Home Independence Coaching
Receiving a diagnosis of low vision or blindness due to conditions like Macular Degeneration, Glaucoma, or Diabetic Retinopathy can be overwhelming. Our program, guided by the patient-focused philosophy of Chris Sacca, is designed to be a gentle and highly practical first step toward adjustment.
We focus on shifting the perspective from loss to potential. Chris and Holly provide personalized, in-home or virtual training centered on immediate independence:
• Initial Adjustment & Support: Compassionate coaching to navigate the emotional aspects of a new diagnosis, including addressing anxiety, fear of falling, and social withdrawal.
• Foundational Skills (ADL): Practical techniques for increasing home safety, using lighting and contrast effectively, safe cooking methods, and medication management.
• Mainstream Assistive Technology: We leverage common devices (smartphones, tablets, and smart devices) to introduce magnification and voice assistance, providing immediate access to reading and communication without complex specialty equipment.
Holly Sacca meticulously monitors each client’s progress, thoughtfully tailoring instruction to align with their evolving needs. As training progresses, she facilitates access to continued support and long-term resources, including specialized equipment and referrals for advanced instruction.
